I recently wrote a novel. This story means a lot to me, and I gave it my all. I am currently deep in the editing and beta-readers phase. My goal is to have this story ready to share with the world in spring of 2026. Much more to follow.

The Emperor's Cabin (Coming Spring 2026!)

Cassandra is a world-weary traveler, running away from the ghosts of her past. Michael is setting out into the world for the first time, after the death of the man who raised him. The story of their very different lives will cross paths in the only place it could, Emperor’s Island. Located off the Pacific Northwest, it is a place both mysterious and lovely in turn. It is a place full of secrets. Like Martin, an eccentric, potentially insane old man who dresses and talks like Napoleon Bonaparte; and Beckingworth Manor, a home with its own dark past. Cassandra and Michael’s fate will become intertwined on this island - and changed - due to matters of the heart and by forces beyond their understanding.

About the book

There are over 58,000 names on the Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C.
This is the story of one of them.
Most history books focus on the "main characters" of the past, the famous names that everyone already knows. Andrew Loftesnes, the author of Looking For Billy, is interested in the role of normal people in the great events of their time - the ones whose names are hidden between paragraphs. The ones who typically do not get books written about them. Their lives and their stories are just as interesting, and they matter just as much.
This book tells the story of one of those people.
In January of 1969 at the age of 19, William Mooers (Billy) was killed in Vietnam while fighting as a U.S. Marine.
In January of 2023, the original KIA letter which the Marine Corps sent to his parents was re-discovered after being hidden away in a dresser drawer.
The author of this book read that letter, and it sparked something.
Sometimes it takes a while for a story to be told - but now this one has.
